Menu Plan Monday: Inspired by the Recipe Index Round-Up

This month in “Eating Intentionally”, we’re focusing on “honoring our hunger”. We are learning to listen to our body’s cues, and eat at the first sign of hunger.

This is our last week to practice honoring our hunger before we dive into a new principle next week. I’m doing very well with honoring my hunger, although perhaps occasionally over-doing it. I might be ready for the principle “Respect Your Fullness”!

This week, my menu came almost entirely from browsing through OrgJunkie’s Recipe Index Round-Up. It’s an incredible resource to find new blogs and fresh recipe inspiration!

  1. Looks great! Cool idea to use slow cooker for meatloaf.
Sometimes I find it difficult to honor my hunger with small children around. Planning our meals is great, so I don’t need to scramble to make something while we are all starving, but I still feel like I often push the hunger away because it’s not easy to eat something while I’m in the middle of toddler and baby and dirty diapers and playing outside and doing laundry and washing dishes and…. I know I won’t always be in this stage, so I’m thankful for it. I just need to eat more regularly :-)

I actually ended up cooking the meatloaf in a muffin pan like I usually do because my day’s schedule got all messed up! So I still need to try that. And I have the same struggle you do, regarding being busy cleaning the house or helping kids and ignoring hunger. I’m getting better at it. I know that part of the problem is eating enough at breakfast to keep me going all morning. I tend to eat breakfast as quickly as I can after I get their food so I can finish all the things I need to get done in the morning, and I usually only eat half as much as I should! So I’m learning to eat more at breakfast to keep me fuller for longer. And it’s easier since I’m not nursing or pregnant right now.
