Salted Steak
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. steak, each about an inch thick
- Fresh basil, chopped
- Sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Garlic powder
Instructions
- Rinse the steaks and pat them dry. Sprinkle both sides of the steak with the chopped basil, then cover both sides in sea salt, rubbing it into the steak as you go. Allow to rest for 20-25 minutes while you prepare the rest of your meal.
- Rinse all the salt and basil off and pat the steaks dry once again. Cover them with the remaining ingredients, rubbing them in as you go.
- Heat a cast iron pan over high heat just until it starts to smoke. Place the steaks in the pan and sear them for a couple minutes on each side.
- Immediately place them on the grill, and cook to desired done-ness. For well done, that will take about 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steaks and the temperature of your grill.
- Allow steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
